The Mechanics and Materials Engineering Laboratory

The Mechanics and Materials Science Laboratory is located in the Woodmar Building, Room #112. In the Mechanics and Materials Science Laboratory, students have access to mechanical equipment, computers, and software used in the analysis and testing of engineering materials. The lab is used for mechanical engineering courses including:

Students use this lab to perform a wide variety of tests and mechanical analysis. The lab also serves other engineering courses that require development or testing of mechanical projects. The lab equipment consists of a MTS axial fatigue tester that can be used for static and dynamic tension compression tests, a Rockwell hardness tester, a micro-hardness tester, an inverted microscope, a heat-treating furnace, and all the necessary Metallography equipment. The lab also is also equipped with two computers that contain a variety of mechanical design and analysis software.
