Michael Foster received his B.S. in Engineering degree from Messiah College (Grantham, PA) in 2002 and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA) in 2006 and 2007, respectively. He is a member of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

While at Messiah College, Mike served with Dokimoi Ergatai (now the Collaboratory), an engineering team of students that traveled to Africa to install a solar-powered deep-well pump, mechanical pumps with rehabilitative actuation, and an irrigation system for a handicap clinic in Mahadaga, Burkina Faso. During graduate school at Drexel University, Mike served as the president of the Mechanical Engineering Graduation Association and as the treasurer for Graduate Student Association. He has received several service and leadership awards including the Messiah College Engineering Department Award (2002), the Drexel Univ. Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Service and Outreach Award (2006, 2007), and the Service Excellence Award (2007) from the Drexel Univ. Office of Graduate Studies.

His technical interests include heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and controls eduation. His teaching responsibilities are fluid mechanics, applications of thermodynamics, senior seminar, control systems engineering, and computational methods. His other passions include studying leadership principles and encouraging others to pursue their calling/purpose with a passion. Mike enjoys competitive volleyball, baseball, photography, hiking, and hanging out with his family. His wife, Luann, is an exercise physiologist and a student in the George Fox PsyD program. They are parents to Noah.
