Michael Magill

Michael Magill received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1980 and 1988, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 1995 also from Oklahoma State University. Prior to coming to George Fox he was on the faculty at Purdue University. There he served as Department Head of Mechanical Engineering Technology from 1998 to 2002. Prior to Purdue he was a faculty member at Oklahoma State University from 1984 to 1995.

Mike is a registered professional engineer and has approximately five years of industrial experience in computer systems and structural inspection. He’s served on numerous national committees in the engineering community including the Board on Engineering Education in the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

His technical interests include solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, applied structures, and computer-aided analysis/finite elements. His teaching responsibilities are statics and dynamics, mechanics of materials, machine dynamics, machine/mechanical design, computational methods, senior seminar, and manufacturing processes. Mike enjoys bicycling, backpacking, running marathons, and adventure. His wife Lisa teaches math at Veritas Christian High School and they have three children.
