Mission

As an engineering program at George Fox University, our mission is to prepare technically competent and broadly educated engineers for a life of responsible service emerging from a Christian worldview.

Program Educational Objectives

The mission of the Engineering Program contains three primary elements: technical competency, breadth of education, and responsible service emerging from a Christian worldview.

  1. GFU Engineers will be technically competent, able to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems and design systems, components, and processes.
  2. GFU Engineers will have a broad education, able to exercise a breadth of perspective in understanding concepts, communicate effectively, and team with others.
  3. GFU Engineers will understand responsible service from a Christian worldview, that emphasizes integrity in every aspect of this service, motivates individuals to a life of responsible service to humankind, and recognizes the need for a life of continued learning.

Program Outcomes

The GFU Engineering Program graduates will have:

  1. an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and the engineering sciences for effective engineering problem solving.
  2. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems using fundamental principles.
  3. an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice to develop responsible technologies.
  4. an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data to extract meaning.
  5. an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs.
  6. an ability to serve on multi-disciplinary teams.
  7. exposure to the industry and engineering practice.
  8. an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility from a Christian worldview.
