Engineering

Engineers apply mathematics and scientific laws to design, develop, test and manufacture countless products and services. Engineers are highly skilled professionals, creating technological solutions that meet the needs of society. George Fox University offers an ABET accredited bachelor of science degree in engineering with a concentration in computer, electrical or mechanical engineering. From electronic devices to computer hardware, or machine design to manufacturing processes, our program provides a firm foundation in these major fields of engineering. Our students are prepared for the engineering profession, graduate programs, and professional licensure.

We believe George Fox University offers one of the best undergraduate engineering educations in the world. Our Christian faculty and focus uniquely enables our students to achieve the George Fox University engineering mission of becoming technically competent and broadly educated engineers, prepared for a life of responsible service emerging from a Christian world-view.

Senior Design Project designed and built by GFU students

Students who experience our small class sizes benefit from frequent one-to-one mentoring. This special interaction between faculty and student can make the difference between success and failure. Students also receive personalized advising through frequent contacts with faculty members.

As a student at George Fox University, you will discover that our newly remodeled facilities include the most advanced equipment and software and will stimulate your thinking skills. Within these facilities, our students are involved in a variety of hands-on analysis and design projects, beginning with the year long freshman experience and continuing with projects like an MP3 player graphic equalizer/amplifier in the sophomore Circuits course, a complete embedded microprocessor system in the junior Microprocessors course, and metal fatigue/failure analysis in the junior Machine Design course.

As a senior in the George Fox University engineering program, your senior design project will give you the opportunity to conceptualize, define, and build a complete electromechanical system or subsystem along with other electrical and mechanical students, under the guidance of faculty mentors who have considerable industrial experience.

Finally, upon graduation, you will find yourself uniquely prepared for employment or graduate school at a variety of locations and will be able to join other George Fox University graduates not only as leaders in their chosen professions, but as servants to a community that is searching for an answer that can only be found in the hope we profess.
